Comedy can be magic and sometimes it can turn you into a Dick!

Do you all remember Mystery Science Theater 3000? That was one of my favorite shows! When I used to ask other people about the show, they almost always said they either didn't like it, or just didn't get it. Oh well, its an acquired taste I guess. I guess I liked it because that's exactly what we would do when we were teenagers-make fun of corny old films! It was so fun and easy! I guess on a certain level, when Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot screened one of those training type shorts from the '50's, there was a bit of dissecting of that ultra-white bread, staid, idyllic and ultimately fantasy family image along with the comedy. I think these were probably some of their funnier segments!

Hell, I still enjoy doing this type of thing when a cheesy movie is on!
Here is one with the boys making mincemeat out of a training film for manners at the dinner table Enjoy!

I always have liked the mixing of magic and comedy. This guy does that mixing very well! The Amazing Jonathan has been around for longer than I thought! Here is a classic clip of him from 1983.

This might be kinda tough with all the controversy about Andy Dick and Jon Lovitz. I have always liked both comedians-maybe Andy a little better because he's I think he's a less one-dimensional, but whatever. If I put my two cents in (what do you all think out there?) I think its a little misguided to blame Andy Dick for Phil Hartman's death. (and for Brynn Hartman's actions and death.) I don't know, but Brynn Hartman was an adult. Yes Dick should not have given her cocaine-(if that's what really happened at the infamous party) and, he has said things he should not have about Lovitz and Hartman-(who I really liked as a comic also) when he was wiped out on drugs or drink. Hey, he has had many issues with alcohol and drugs himself, so maybe his judgement is off.

Anyway, trying to forget this current tension between the two comics, I would like to present a couple of clips of Dick (Geez! The guy's name lends itself to humor doesn't it?!) in parodies of Marilyn Manson.

With all the talk about Michael Vick and cruelty to animals I would like to present a somewhat fitting strange, funny little film created by Dan Piraro about our relationship with animals and who is better suited to be vegans or meat eaters. I know this has nothing to do with dogfighting, but is more about how we treat animals in general. Whatever your feelings about being a vegetarian or meat eater, (I do eat meat, but sometime ago, I tried doing a "variant" of vegetarianism, and lost a lot of weight and felt a lot more healthy than I do now!) this is still a funny little clip!

Some comedians you might like, love, or hate. Its up to you.

I love David Cross. He's a great comedian (I think) and he gives a great, skewed view of the world. At times he is pretty controversial, (like in this clip-sorry to offend those who are bothered by jokes about religion!) I think that his jokes are smart, literate, and best of all funny! He's way funnier than another comedian whose literate delivery is kind of in the same vein-Dennis Miller! Miller thinks every word out of his mouth is so damn hilarious and of course, he loves to impress people with his witticism and vocabulary. I actually liked him on SNL but now, a lot of times his right-wingedness and pompousness (Google "pompous" and Dennis Miller and you get about 70,000 results!) gets in the way.
Here's David

David Letterman recently explored the Transformer Optimus Prime, and showed what a jerk off he was when he was a teen!

I never really liked the band Linkin Park. From the silly misspelled name thing so prevalent in youngster's music today to their formula. This dig at Linkin Park's style is humorously laid out in this parody clip.

Was trying to find another Andy Dick skit but found this Daphne Aguilera thing instead. Pretty funny.

Hope you like the comedy!

I've branched out into other areas. (Namely, idiotic comics!)

Ha! Just saw the one of the funniest crime stories in the paper. I read that on Saturday morning, some dumb oak in New Hampshire tried to rob a bank-"disguised" as a tree! http://news.aol.com/story/_a/man-dressed-as-tree-robs-bank-cops-say/20070709111709990001

A tree! A tree! (have to say that a few times to let it all sink in!)

There was a security camera photo of the robber with leafy boughs and branches duct-taped around his chest and head area. A local police sergeant was quoted as saying that the robber "...really went out on a limb" (!)

Someone recognized the pinehead from the security photo and James Coldwell, 49, was arrested a short time later. Guess he robbed the wrong branch-get it!? The wrong...uhh oh well!

You can really have fun with this one! Wonder if after some time in jail, he might turn over a new leaf? I might just be barking up the wrong tree here. Ok. I'll stop, but here are some comics about Mr. Sprucehead!

Do you feel like I do? Weird? Thank goodness you're weird too!

Hey everyone! Hope your weekend is going well! I came across this clip a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty funny, especially if you have seen the Dateline To Catch A Predator series. Hey, you might have seen it also before, but what the heck see it again! The guy in the Primate parody has Chris Hansen's voice, tone and expression down! Enjoy!

While checking out some clips relating to TCAP, I came across this one. Kinda funny too, and an interesting premise. How do they find the (supposedly?!) underage actors for the set up scenes for the TCAP series?

Ha ha! Conan O'Brien is pretty funny!

Ok, enough of that! I'm feelin' kinda weird. Need some weird comedy. Here's some weird, funny comedians. The first is Steven Wright

Then next comedian is Mitch Hedberg. RIP. I came across this guy several years ago. When I first saw him, it may have been on Letterman or Conan and I thought he was blind! He just came across that way with the way he hardly looked at the crowd-he mostly looked down at the floor (actually you couldn't tell with those dark glasses!)He had a great"stoner"-like delivery and like Steven Wright he had material that makes you think. He's sorely missed.

Another Mitch clip

Zach Galifianakis is nuts! And he's funny too!

Aww, what the hell! Here are two more-just to show: Zach Galifianakis is nuts!

Ha ha! Flaming Arrows!

...all this stuff is too weird...hope you liked it.

I have been tagged!

American Scot at http://americanscot.blogspot.com/ tagged me to write a post about 5 things I do to stay positive. This all comes from High Vibes at http://www.optimistlab.com/.
I've never done this before man...! ( i feel like Cheech Marin in that one movie!)
anyway... Here are 5 of the ways I keep myself positive:

1. I like to listen to music-all kinds of music, but when I am down, I like to listen to "heavy" music. I know that sounds like an oxymoron-that heavy music like Iron Maiden or the Scorpions would get me feeling more positive again, but I think it is more like coffee with a child who has ADHD! The coffee is a stimulant that makes the kid with ADHD calmer-with me the heavy music makes me chill and calm down a little. You would think soft, or happy music would cheer me up-no! Weird!

2. If I am down, I like to go for a long drive. Possibly to a mountainous area or in the countryside. That usually gets me feeling more positive, and clears my thoughts.

3. I talk things over with a family member-my wife, my son, my mom etc. When you have another perspective on life, especially the people who really care about you, it really makes things clearer for you.

4. I recently did something really dumb financially (no it wasn't gambling!) and lost some money with a stupid mistake! When I realized that I had done this, I really stewed over it for a long time, until I remembered that there are people who are way, way, in worse shape than I ever have been. I know that this can be a cliche, but when you are thinking of yourself and your troubles, stopping to think about others who really have it bad can put things in perspective!

5. I'm with American Scot here: I think "pet therapy" can really help to bring one's positive vibes up! When I play with our dog for a while, it sure makes my mood better! We have funny looking dog that is half Pug, half Chihuahua, and maybe some Pekinese! (don't ask me how that came to be!) Maybe because she's so silly looking and cute, but anyway, our dog can help with the mood!

There's my 5 ways to get more positive!

Now I will tag these fine blogs!

Kathy, Kevin, Triumph, and strips. Sounds dirty.

Hi friends of comedy and humor! Hope your weekend is or was great! Mine was ok but I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to install a drip irrigation system. That was a pain in the butt, but, (ha ha) now its done and there's just a little fine tuning to do with it. Today I am going to post some comedians, one or two Triumph clips, and some more of my comics-I know they're stupid, but hey, they're an expression of my artistic side right? Let me know what you think! Even if you think they are absolute garbage!

The first clip is from a comedienne who I really like. This may be a controversial statement because from what I have heard, you either love her, or hate her! Kathy Griffin! I guess I really like her. I like the way she tells her stories about her interactions with the rich and famous and screwed up people she meets. Her sense of humor is great! I have been watching her show, "My Life On the D-List" on the Bravo channel and I can't believe the language she gets away with without them bleeping her! She's one of those comediennes that can make crude language funny though, unlike some other comics.

I wonder what you all think of her. Let me know. In fact, let me know who you think is your favorite comedian/enne! I'll let you know right now, I was never a fan of Sam Kinnison. I just don't think yelling in people's faces and making fun of starving people in Africa was funny. I don't like the "blue collar comedy" guys either too much. Carlos Mencia is horrible, but Joe Rogan is too. I can't stand anybody who makes fun of those who are the most defenseless-the terminally ill, and people with special needs, especially. Let me know who you like as a standup comedian.
Also let me know what you think about the comics strips I have "drawn."

Ok, ok, enough already! Where's the first clip!?

Kathy G talking about Mel Gibson, Barbara Walters etc.

Kathy on Ryan Seacrest and American Idol

Whitney Houston etc, etc.

Kevin James is a pretty darn funny guy on the "King of Queens" and he seems to be a pretty good standup comedian too!

As i had promised a while back- a few classic Triumph clips for your amusement.
Triumph outside the Michael Jackson trial.

With all the controversy regarding Ann Coulter recently, I couldn't help but add my two cents worth. (And another generic strip).
