Comedy for the beginning of the end

Married to the Sea Married To The Sea: "The Champagne of Comics" is a great comic-just ask Anne Altman Two Can Anne who has posted lots of MTTS, done by Natalie and Drew Dee. On the MTTS site, they also have other funny stuff, including Superpoop Superpoop which are real photos-hilariously captioned! Here's a couple (or three) of Superpoop. That didn't come out well! Hey! That didn't come out so well eith...aww forget it-here
they are:

I have always liked Demetri Martin's comedy. Here, in this clip (audio only-someone put pictures to the jokes-check out this clip's "more info" on YT) Martin does his usual, unique, observational humor while playing his guitar.

More weird S!#*!

Here are some weird comics: (click to enlarge)

True story. I had a primary Dr. who, twice mistakenly identified me as another patient. This particular Dr. asked me after he came into the examination room-"Hey, how are you dealing with the Crohn's disease?" Not having Crohn's disease before (or so I thought-I had just had a physical and the Dr. was to give me my results) I now thought for a second that I had just developed Crohn's disease! After he realized it was another patient with a similar name, we were ok until next time. The next time, he came in the room, and said, "we need to keep monitoring how you're doing with your diabetes"! Of course, I luckily didn't have diabetes, and of course, I promptly switched to another Dr.!

Speaking of comics-one of my favorite cartoonists -(if not my favorite!) Dan Piraro had this fun little interactive Palin click and see what happens thing http://palinaspresident.com/ on his blog Bizarro Blog. Just a word of warning-it has some graphic depictions of animal killing-being that she's an avid hunter.

In looking for guitar "how-to" video clips on YT, I have come across some informative clips from a channel called Expert Village expertvillage that features hundreds of videos of people who purport to be experts in many different fields and interests. There are musicians, handypersons, exercise experts, etc, etc. There are videos on how to be a pole dancer, how to survive prison, and many other different scenarios and situations. Most are not done as a joke, but real people who are trying to help people out people needing information about the field they are strong in. And some of the people who are the "experts" are really experts. They are knowledgable, and give good advice. It is the people who are obviously joking around or doing silly stuff that caught my eye the other day. Some of this stuff is STRANGE! Weird. But it can be funny sometimes.

Here are some clips of a guy who claims to know a lot about the art of the put down, the smack-down- trash talking extraordinaire, Ryan Tapp: (sorry-couldn't embed these EV vids)

Nothing much...

Hey folks. Been really busy with work lately, and haven't felt like posting much anyways. I have been watching more TV news shows lately-interested in how things are turning out.
I haven't even been visiting other blogs very much lately. I want to get back into it soon! I need to catch up though, at least on my dumb comments sometime soon! So blogmates-I will be seeing you soon!

I was wondering what Fox News was lying about earlier, so I turned the TV on and saw the typical barbie anchor giving a report about Sarah Palin's jabs at Obama's acquaintance with Bill Ayers at a rally. The other anchor then said something like "...in the interests of fairness, since we already spoke with Obama's campaign manager, we now have Tucker Bounds, John McCain's campaign manager."
Now, if Fox News was actually fair and balanced, like they claim to be, this wouldn't be the punchline it is. I mean, come on! This network has been hammering away at Obama for every little thing ever since he was jumped into the race. They have had guest after guest, and show after show try to smear and malign Obama's campaign. To say that they have even tried to give airtime to Obama in a positive manner is truly insulting. And Fox "News" is truly a joke. (I know, I know-that's not groundbreaking news) I actually managed to laugh a little at the inanity.

Also, I just need to say something. There is a lot of divisiveness in America right now. As a progressive/liberal person, I see a lot of that divisiveness coming from the right-the right in our country is on alert right now, trying to play catch up now that Obama's lead in the polls is growing. Looking at comments in the blogs-Liveleak, or Youtube, it is clear that some on the right are afraid of a black President, even one who is, in my opinion, not very liberal at all. I would characterize Obama's platform and beliefs as a moderate to even conservative Democrat. I am more like a Kucinich (or more!) Demo, but I do think Obama would a great President. He would take us light years away from the mess we are in now, that's for sure!
I know that there are some on the left who say dumb things that can rub people the wrong way, but I think the right in this country is reactionary-(I guess that's why they are called reactionaries). Everything is a harsh, negative , and sometimes outright threatening reaction to change, or new ideas.
I was watching Fox later in the day, and guess what? They have hired Mike Huckabee to host his own show! Only on Fox! Fair and Balanced-yes indeed. Mike Huckabee!
It even shows up (a little) in one of my son's kids videos. Just recently, he had a birthday, and received a Veggietales video. Veggietales is produced by a conservative christian company, but I had never heard of anything, or thought that the company would be brazen enough to fill these particular movies with rightie beliefs that showed that particular bias. I was wrong. I was watching one of the movies with my son the other day, and an old west character was narrating, talking about traveling in the West, and he says "Indians" and then quickly corrected himself and said "oh, excuse me!" "Native Americans!" Personally, I don't think my Indian friends or neighbors mind being called Indians. I use that term. It was the way the character in the movie-a old west Yosemite Sam-like character- said it that got my goat. It was said in a snide, condescending way. I know this may sound silly to some, but taken with all the other crap, it gets to me sometimes. All this rightie claptrap!

Tina Fey does it again:

Nicholas Gurewitch's Perry Bible Fellowship has always been a favorite of mine!

I have had Don Asmussen's Bad Reporter comic on here before also! It's great!

I hadn't had any of Derf's The City comics here before! I am sorry that I hadn't!

These revelations are noxious!

Recently, a new book written by Jerome Corsi-The Obama Nation-Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality was published. This incendiary book seeks to blow the lid off the Obama popularity and attraction that is rampant across our nation. There are many strong accusations and assertions contained within the book. Here are a few excerpts:

  • Ted, my spellchecker and grammaticist and I were walking just behind the Hussein-Obama entourage as he moved about, shaking hands with admirers and well-wishers. I caught a whiff of something, smelled like human gas. I am not entirely sure, as Ted insisted it wasn't him who 'let one go', but I think it was Hussein-Obama .

  • A really mean Secret Service agent told Ted and I to 'get the hell outta here, now!' and 'Didn't I tell you once to get the hell outta here!?" I think that is mean on the Hussein-Obama camp's part. To deny American citizens the right to view, question and yell at-(we were placed so far away and had to yell!) a Presidential candidate!

  • We were physically assisted away from the Hussein-Obama residence due to the illegal and Soviet-style restraining order. We were told by a Secret Service agent "Hey! The order says that you are not to come within 200 feet of the Obama family, do you understand me!?" I fear for this great nation when investigators seeking the truth like myself can't root through people's garbage.

  • Observed Barack Hussein (yes-I will use his full name or at least his middle and last name for this book, thank you!) Obama putting an empty plastic water bottle in a recycling receptacle. The way he tossed it in there was...uhh ..I don't know...you know...kinda...strange.

  • During another Hussein-Obama speaking event, I again smelled human gas. I again questioned Ted about this. Yes, he was directly in front of me and yes, he and I had just ate an enormous meal at Grandy's but, I know, in my heart of hearts that it was Hussein-Obama.

  • Ted and I had a long, long drive to the next Hussein-Obama speaking engagement. I kept smelling something, something horrible! It was stuck in my nasal cavities. I knew that I was just smelling the seething and frothing impudence (Ted gave me that line!) of the American political process going down the sewer as Americans fawn, fret and sway (yes-that one has Ted all over it) over a candidate that is unfit for command. A Muslim, I kinda think.

  • Hussein-Obama didn't even look at me today. Although he is more than 200 feet away. It's hard to see someone's eyes from that distance, especially when they are devious, and possibly gas-emitting Muslims like Hussein-Obama!

  • I woke up in a cold sweat in our hotel room last night. I had the worst nightmare! I dreamt that I was suffocating in a cloud of noxious fumes. The fumes could best be described as sulfur-like. Well, when I awoke, I was at first really in a daze, and I turned to Ted who was in the twin bed next to mine and said, 'Wha! What is that!? I can't breathe! I can't breathe! It's that smell again!' and Ted just replied 'hey Jer, just go back to sleep, it's...nothing...nothing at all...ok.' And then I heard Ted roll over and mumble something about eating too much roast and his stomach hurt or something. Maybe Hussein-Obama is trying to poison us!

More revelations from Obama Nation may come at another time!

*UPDATE:
Here is the 2nd part of the glimpses into Corsi's Obama Nation Cultish Comedy

This 'toon- (drawn by me) really stinks. (click on it-if you dare-to enlarge)

A little of this a little of that...

I recently posted the Yakov Smirnoff parody from the Ben Stiller Show, and in looking at some of the clips from the show, I thought I'd have to post this one also! Like I said, you have to get that DVD retrospective!

Headin' up the country charts raht now!

Now this is funny!

With the passing of George Carlin, some in the blogging world said why couldn't it have been Yakov Smirnoff that went! I never found him funny at all! His shtick was dumb and one dimensional and he was kinda irritating. That's why I really loved this little parody of Yakov! I have the Ben Stiller Show DVD that this little clip came from! It is excellent if you can find it! (I loved that show!)

Some 'toons

I really like Joe Sayer's Thingpart! Those faces! With those huge teeth! And, of course Sayer's sardonic, dark wit! I had posted a Thingpart toon a while back C3 Fun -Comics, Comedians and Clips: First post of 2008! (Same ol ... , but I had to post these recent, funny ones!

I hadn't done any of my own stuff in a while. Hope you like them!

Books, Books and More Books

My wife and I have always enjoyed reading, and I think we have passed that love of reading on to our son. He is now reading books and he loves to show how well he can read. He has a "ton" of great picture books for his 7 year-old imagination: Books like Way Out In the Desert, Somewhere in The Ocean, and Over In the Garden by Jennifer Ward, the How Do Dinosaurs ....books by Jane Yolen, and of course, many Dr. Seuss and Eric Carle titles.

I was sitting here the other night, wondering what might have happened if some "rogue" children's book authors tried to go to their publisher with some book ideas that were not so savory! By the way, I'm just kidding!

It's been soooo hot over here!

Lately it's been so damn hot over here! It's actually been kinda humid here and so the swamp cooler-even turned up to high, isn't doing anything for us and we're sweating-sweating like Ashanti is sweating in these sweaty photos!

Ok, ok! Don't sweat it! I'll stop with this kinda sweaty sexist stuff! I was surfing around and found this interesting blog about celebrity sweating! It's where I found the above sweaty pics. It's called, not surprisingly, Celebrity Sweating http://www.celebritysweating.com/. They have many, many sweating celebs here! No sweat!
They give a little support for Obama (I do think their attempt at humor for the Obama post was kinda dumb!) Obama Sweats Gracefully as Only Future Qualified Presidents Can.

I used to sometimes get promotional copies of The Funny Times, THE FUNNY TIMES MAGAZINE Cartoon Monthly a monthly mini-newspaper featuring mostly social, and political comics and humorous columns, as a result of subscribing to several lefty and media commentary mags. I always thought of subscribing to TFT, but never did. I recently decided to look at the site to see about posting some of the work of cartoonists I have seen in the paper. There was a section called Links and Letters-(I was trying to find links to cartoonist's sites) and at the bottom of this page was "Hate Mail." I checked that link out. Funny stuff, but actually a little bit creepy also! Hate Mail.

Here are a few 'toons from a great cartoonist I have been meaning to post for a long time. Matt Bors, whose toons are often found in The Funny Times is a great artist who has a biting sense of progressive humor! His artwork is somewhat similar to another great cartoonist, Jen Sorenson who I posted a few from earlier C3 Fun -Comics, Comedians and Clips: 2007-10-07.

Dischord in the newsroom, troublesome humor, and napkin music

Gee whiz I'm glad I get along-(generally) with my co-workers! These guys will probably beat the crap out of each other in the parking garage after work!

I have always loved Troubletown! The way Lloyd Dangle draws his characters with their constant scowls is funny enough, but he also seems to often have some insightful takes on today's politics! Here is his observation of how the news media deals with Obama vs McCain:

On the Troubletown site there are some kinda cool little things you can do-like ask Alberto Gonzalez a question, see who will fill the great Reagan mold, and some funny drawings from his sketchbook, and the Troubletown blog: Welcome to Troubletown.com

We all need a little break from our super serious world every now and then. Some of us will read...some listen to a good comedian...some listen to music. Yeah, music- sweet, sweet music. How it can soothe the soul! This is just cool. A musical about an available napkin! I have posted some of Improv Everywhere's skits before-I really like them! I think the reaction on people's faces is great when the actors begin doing their stuff! The people eating and doing whatever they were doing at the food court seem to enjoy this kind of musical theater!

Ode to love...belatedly

Happy Belated Valentines Day! Hope all is well with you and your loved ones! I am not sure all is well with this love freak! Well, love stinks sometimes, huh?
*Update: I was looking at an older post from 12-2- More on music, and I realized that the title was unintentionally fitting. Honestly, I didn't think of that title as a joke for those songs I included in that post! I know it just seems to fit, but no, it was because I was continuing the discussion about music from the post before. Anyway, I went ahead and put actual players for the songs and revised some stuff. Its easier to listen to those morons now.

First post of 2008! (Same ol' BS - different year)

Hi everyone! Happy New Year to you all! Hope everyone's 2008 is starting off OK! Took our 7 year-old to see Alvin and the Chipmunks today. Our son has autism, and has sensory issues, especially with louder noises, so getting out to see a movie at the local "mega-screen" theatre is a big thing. He used to have a harder time dealing with noise, and he still does sometimes, but we give him earplugs, gum, sit in the back and hope that the movie is not going to be loud. He kept commenting "This is a long, long, movie!"
Well Alvin and the Chipmunks is one of those kinda obnoxious movies, where, when they have a music scene loud, pop music is magically turned up to 120 decibels. And there are a lot of music parts since it is about Alvin and the boys. I like loud, obnoxious rock music, but some of those scenes were just too loud for me! I liked the movie, but I am not sure that it is for kids younger than 10 or twelve-some of that humor would go over younger kid's heads in my opinion. Or maybe I am just getting older and things have changed, I don't know! David Cross who is one of my favorite actors and Jason Lee who I like a lot too are in it.

Anyway, before the movie began today there were those "movie cats" that tell people about getting treats and consideration of others at the theatre. Here is a little clip that could be considered an updating of the movie cat's (and the familiar anthropomorphic snacks') movie etiquette message:

Some people are just so creative and ingenious! This guy seems to be a great inventor and a funny guy! By the way, maybe GWB can at least be a good "chariot puller"!

I have been trying to learn some old classic rock stuff on guitar, and looking at Youtube clips really has helped me a lot! Some of the bands I enjoy trying to play are Judas Priest and ACDC. I have always loved Jim Breuer's imitation of Rob Halford and especially Brian Johnson from ACDC.

Since we're on the subject of music, I had to post this clip of Pablo Francisco talking about William Hung. This clip is one of the funniest comedian clips I have seen!

In searching for good strips to post here I ran across some links to some really interesting strips that I hope you will like. I have always liked Thing Part thingpart by Joey Sayers, and from his site I came across some others that I really like also.

Derek Kirk Kim Lowbright is a great artist in addition to having a great autobiographical edge to his humorous strips, shorts and stories. Here are a couple of his strips.

Another great comic strip is Married to the Sea Married To The Sea by Natalie Dee. Here's a couple of them. I like the way she takes these old prints and gives them new life!

December 23, 2007

Ahhh, memories!

It looks like this might be my last post of 2007. Maybe. For the next week, we will be pretty busy with family and get togethers, and all that holiday stuff. Who knows. If I get something really good I will post it, but I don't know. In advance, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to you all!

Been wanting to post some of these old guidance films that are found on the Internet Archive-www.archive.org/ I love this site! It is known for being a little slow, (tonight it was moving a little better than it had been so maybe they got a better server) but hey its a non-profit so give it a break! Its so interesting to see all the photos, clips, and documents of American history. Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Archive gives a great synopsis of all that this interesting site has to offer. I usually head to the "Moving Images" link and check out the Prelinger Archives or the Ephemeral Films link, then AV Geeks. I love to see how norms were presented of American life, (even when I don't think many people living life in the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's followed some of these extreme prudish, militaristic, ultra-strict, and homophobic morality codes). Is it my imagination, or did the same guy with the "smokers throat" narrate all those 40's and 50's social guidance films?!
I can laugh watching these films without a narrator mocking them, but with the treatment these types of films get from MST3K, it makes them that much more funnier! It's too bad the show isn't on anymore, and their website's not too great-no clips of them mocking old dumb movies! Instead, go to YouTube to find MST3K clips.

As a former classroom teacher, (I am still a teacher-just now as an itinerant one) I find the films about education very interesting, and above all, hilarious because of the extreme beliefs about children's conduct for the times. Like this one. We can talk all day about how now kids are out of control in our public schools, but I think this film supposes an unattainable example of classroom environment!
(I had trouble embedding from IA, so I got these at YouTube.)

Crazy film about the "dangers" of gay men.

I remember a great sketch comedy show in the vein of SNL called Fridays on ABC that ran in the 1980's. As a teenager watching it, I thought it was great because it was the "bad boy" of TV sketch comedy compared to what was then the "old man" of SNL. It was edgy, and had some pretty pointed social commentary for a show that ran on ABC. It also had some great musical guests like the Pretenders, The Boomtown Rats and The Plasmatics. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fridays www.tvparty.com/80fridays.html
Here are some of my favorite clips from the show. (although I think there are some others that were good that I could not find)
*YT took off the Ronnie Horror Picture Show clips-here are some other ones:

Here are a couple of comics for the remaining days of 2007.

December 12, 2007

Yeah-I got your post right here, buddy.

This is a real shitty post. The clip, not the post itself. (although judging by the lack of traffic around here, I am starting to have some doubts)

Just put out the Christmas lights last weekend. Speaking of Christmas lights-here's Jim Gaffigan.

Some comics:

Found this comedy troupe called DerrickComedy-derrickcomedy.com/they are pretty good. Found some clips on Youtube. They kind of remind me of The Whitest Kids U Know comedy troupe whitestkids.com/ who I featured a long time ago. With both these groups, its hit and miss, but when its "hit," its pretty funny. With the Derrick people, there's a lot of foul language and "adult situations" so, just to let you know.

I thought this historical expose on an old Jazz figure was kinda humorous.

This is sick, but funny in a twisted way. Kinda.

Check out the redhead who is an expert at something on Derrick Comedy.

see you next time,

MG

Strips and clips just for you!

Now...just in time for Halloween. Its a sick tale of character assassination and suspense that follows the horror recipe to the letter!

I don't know...maybe I'm just reading too much into this, and you may or may not laugh; I know enough to tell you the laugh clause isn't binding.

I like bacon! Like those dog food commercials that came out a while back, Jim Gaffigan likes his Hot Pockets!

Do you have a heart on? This is one of those news anchor slip-ups that's just perfect! Boy, I bet she got teased about this boner! Sorry!

I don't know, this is more sad than funny. It's nuts! Nuts! Crazy! Our crazy gun culture at its worst. "Uhmm, hun, I can't sleep. I'm gonna go and get some milk and maybe that'll hel-BLAM! Jeez! I just shot my foot off!"

October 14, 2007

This is some crazy *&^%$#@, you know!?

Here's some more humorous videos for your giggling pleasure! This first one is an oldy but a goody! An old (1966?) pro wrestling "challenge" clip-(gee, things haven't changed too much in the pro wrestling world!) where The Crusher speaks his mind about his challenger-Bruno Sammartino . In detail. With specificity. All that information given in a voice that makes my throat hurt.

Here is a clip from that crazy as hell Pastor Fred Phelps. You know, does anyone other than his inbred mutant family actually listen to his incoherent ramblings? If there are people other than family that look up to the teachings of Pastor Fred at the Westboro Baptist Church, (look at this crap if you dare! www.godhatesfags.com/main/index.html) and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Phelps let them sing out in a chorale of sick twisted demented arias. I don't believe there are. (we are in trouble if there are people who look to this "church" for their teachings!)
Here he is rambling, and I do mean rambling about Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert-the godless sodomites!

This next clip really got me for a little while. I thought, just maybe, its real! Then I did a little research and found it to be a great parody of the mentality of the Christian Right's view of gay people. The production, video and delivery is what you would think a Christian singer might have for a song like this, so it makes it funnier!

At first, with the next video clip, you may wonder what is this all about? Well, its about evidence. Check out what the police officer is carrying out in that box. Its not drugs! (looks like he tried to get by the TV news cameras quickly, but failed!)

Here's a couple of strips for the Fun With Idioms theme: Idiot Idioms!

October 12, 2007

Shoots! Ladders! ...and the N-word!

Hey people! Hope you all are ready for the weekend. I sure am! I just started a new job as an itinerant special education teacher, and I am really busy! Its a different busy from my previous job as a special education classroom teacher. Of course I get to travel to different schools and meet all kinds of people, but I have a lot more schedules to meet and a lot more meetings!

Time for some videos! The first clips are not at all controversial, but the ones by the Onion and Dave Chappelle are both dealing with the same, really controversial topic.

What is it with all those Home Shopping Network-type things with ladder mishaps!? I found at least two ladders featured on these shows that seem to be made of highly questionable, safety standards or shaky material!

I have almost every anthology of the Onion www.theonion.com/content/index there is. (Speaking of which I need to go check out the latest!) I really love that type of snarky, ironic humor! The way that the writers use the idiosyncrasies of newspaper to score humorous bulls eyes almost every time is perfect! When I started to see the video edition of the Onion, I was a little unsure about how their type of humor would translate. It works! I love the Onion News Network!
This next clip from the Onion News Network is about the nastiest, crudest, and vulgar clip I have ever posted, but dammit, its funnier than hell! Don't say I didn't warn you! If you don't like or can't take bad language, sexual content, and nudity, this one's not for you!
glumbert - Use Of 'N-Word' May End Porn Star's Career

Now, this next one is one I really debated posting too. This one also involves the "N-word." But not really that "N-word!" I would not ever use that word. I don't like it, I don't even like hearing black people use it. This Dave Chappelle clip though is hilarious-you're laughing even while you're feeling guilty for laughing so hard! Dave Chappelle is a master at turning racism on its ugly head, showing the irony and hypocrisy and stupidity of racism while making us laugh our asses off! He is much better at dealing with racism issues than Carlos Mencia is. For some reason, Mencia sounds like he really means it when he does a racist joke. Chappelle, although blunt, makes it sound less ham-handed and or course more funny than Mencia. At least I think so!
I had posted a clip of his from his show about the black KKK guy (which heDave talks about in the intro to the next clip c3fun.blogspot.com/2007/06/hey-guys-hope-you-all-had-great-weekend.html and this one is in the same vein. Kinda. If you are offended by the use of that word, then don't watch this. Its pretty damn funny, and its a Dave Chappelle clip!

Ha! Talk about truth in advertising!

Coupla comics-Big Fat Whale-by Brian Mcfadden I had posted a strip a while back-getting-back-to-basics-clips-comics-and.html I discovered it from Matthew Caverhill's blog Culture Kills rantocracy.blogspot.com/

I really like Slowpoke www.slowpokecomics.com/index.html from Jen Sorensen-here's a couple of 'em. The latest and one from her archives.
